Kyloen's Age-Adaptive UI Automatically Switches to Dark Mode for Teenagers
Children aged 15-18 experience a sophisticated dark interface that respects their aesthetic preferences and reduces eye strain during late-night study sessions
New Delhi, India
Kyloen today detailed its age-adaptive user interface system, highlighting how the platform automatically transitions to a dark mode experience for users in the 15-18 age group. The design decision reflects research showing that older teenagers prefer sophisticated, minimal interfaces that respect their sense of maturity.
The 15-18 interface uses a deep navy background with electric teal accents, 12-pixel border radiuses (compared to 24-pixel for the 5-7 group), smaller button targets that match adult app conventions, and a conversational tone that functions as a mentor rather than a friend. The dark mode also reduces eye strain during the late-night study sessions common among Indian students preparing for board examinations and competitive entrance tests.
Four Distinct Design Systems
Kyloen operates four complete design systems: Candy (ages 5-7) with warm oranges and extra-large touch targets, Spark (ages 8-11) with electric blues and gamified elements, Calm (ages 12-14) with deep violets and a thoughtful aesthetic, and Deep (ages 15-18) with the dark mode interface. Each system adjusts colour palettes, font scales, border radiuses, button sizes, and conversation tones.
"A 6-year-old and a 17-year-old don't just need different content, they need entirely different digital environments. We built four complete products and unified them under one platform," said Neha Kapoor, Founder and CEO.
