Question 1

Is Kyloen finished?

Accepted Answer

Not yet, and we'd rather tell you plainly. Kyloen is in beta and free while we build it. We're a small team building in the open, so you will find rough edges in the design, and we'll keep fixing them. Two things we will never get wrong are your child's privacy and your child's safety: no ads, no selling data, no training AI on your child's conversations, parental consent before a child profile exists, and you can delete everything with one tap, any time. If something looks off, tell us at hello@kyloen.com.

Question 2

What exactly is Kyloen?

Accepted Answer

Kyloen is an Indian AI companion built specifically for children aged 5 to 18. Unlike general AI tools, Kyloen is designed around the child — it remembers your child's interests, adapts its personality and language to their age, helps them with academics, talks through personal challenges, teaches digital safety, and identifies their passions over time. The AI companion character is named Kylo by default, though children can name their companion themselves. Kyloen is the platform. Kylo is the companion living inside it.

Question 3

How is Kyloen different from just using ChatGPT with a child?

Accepted Answer

ChatGPT is a general-purpose AI designed for adults. It has no age verification, no child-specific safety filters, no parent visibility, and no knowledge of your child as an individual. Kyloen is purpose-built for children with age-adaptive interfaces, strict content safety, a Parent Dashboard, DPDP compliance with parental consent flows, curriculum alignment with CBSE and ICSE, and a mascot companion that grows with your child. They are fundamentally different products for fundamentally different users.

Question 4

What age groups does Kyloen support?

Accepted Answer

Kyloen supports children from age 5 to age 18, divided into four distinct experience tiers. Ages 5–7 (The Explorer) gets a voice-friendly, giant-button, warm orange interface. Ages 8–11 (The Builder) gets gamified learning with XP bars and badges. Ages 12–14 (The Thinker) gets real conversations without condescension. Ages 15–18 (The Visionary) gets career-focused guidance with near-adult respect.

Question 5

Can my child name the AI companion?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Children can give Kylo a personalised name that the companion will use in all conversations. This name is stored in their profile. If your child names their companion Max, Kyloen will refer to the companion as Max in all interactions.

Question 6

Is Kyloen available in India's regional languages?

Accepted Answer

Kyloen currently supports English and Hinglish. The Hinglish capability uses tum/tumhe — not tu/tujhe — reflecting the respectful but warm tone appropriate for a companion relationship. Support for Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi is on our product roadmap for 2026.

Question 7

Is Kyloen compliant with India's DPDP Act?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. India's DPDP Rules phase in until 2027 and we are building towards them openly: parents give consent at signup and every consent is recorded with a date and policy version, we keep only what the service needs (raw chats are deleted after 90 days), parents can ask us to delete their child's data at any time, and children's chats are never sold or used for ads. Stronger, verifiable parental consent is still being designed. Our Grievance Officer is Neha Kapoor at grievance@kyloen.com and our legal counsel is Unified Chambers and Associates.

Question 8

What content is blocked in Kyloen?

Accepted Answer

Kyloen's safety layer blocks 35+ categories of harmful content including adult content, graphic violence, self-harm content, suicide-related content, drug glorification, radicalization content, hate speech, and content inappropriate for the child's age group. This filtering cannot be bypassed through prompt manipulation.

Question 9

Who processes my child's data and where is it stored?

Accepted Answer

Kyloen handles your child's data under India's DPDP Act 2023, and it is never sold or used for advertising. When your child sends a message, it is processed by our AI technology partner (USA-based) to generate a response. Our AI partner does not use conversation data for AI training. The full sub-processor list is disclosed in our Privacy Policy.

Question 10

What happens if my child mentions something serious, like feeling unsafe?

Accepted Answer

Kyloen has a crisis detection and response protocol for situations where a child mentions self-harm, abuse, or severe distress. When triggered, Kylo responds with age-appropriate empathy and safety resources, and the parent receives an immediate alert through the Parent Dashboard.

Question 11

Can parents see my child's full conversation history?

Accepted Answer

Parents access the Parent Dashboard which shows mood trends, topic summaries, learning milestones, and safety flags — but not full conversation transcripts. This is intentional. Children who know every word is monitored stop being honest with Kylo, which defeats the purpose of having a trusted companion.

Question 12

How does Kylo help with academic subjects?

Accepted Answer

Kylo uses the Socratic method — asking guiding questions rather than giving direct answers — to help students reach understanding themselves. When a child struggles with a problem, Kylo identifies the specific gap and walks them through the reasoning step by step, building genuine understanding rather than answer dependence.

Question 13

What is the mascot evolution system?

Accepted Answer

Kylo starts as a seed-like mascot and evolves through four stages — Seed, Sprout, Explorer, and Visionary — as your child earns experience points. The evolution is milestone-based. A more engaged child evolves faster. Each stage has a distinct visual design that reflects the child's growing relationship with Kylo.

Question 14

How does career discovery work?

Accepted Answer

Career discovery in Kyloen unfolds through natural conversations over months. Kylo pays attention to what topics excite your child, what problems they enjoy solving, and what they mention wanting to do. After several months, Kylo builds a personality and interest map that helps both child and parents understand suitable career paths.

Question 15

What digital safety topics does Kyloen cover?

Accepted Answer

Kyloen's safety curriculum covers good touch and bad touch, online safety and privacy, cyberbullying, safe internet use, recognising manipulative behaviour, mental health awareness, and age-appropriate consent education. These topics are taught through natural conversation and stories.

Question 16

Does Kyloen replace a human tutor?

Accepted Answer

Question 17

Accepted Answer

Kyloen is free during beta (planned at ₹499 per child per month after launch). There is no trial clock and no credit card needed. Family profiles are included free during beta, and an annual plan is coming after launch. Schools can express interest in a free pilot at schools@kyloen.com.

Question 25

Can I stop anytime and what happens to my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Kyloen is free during beta, so there is nothing to cancel and no fees — you can stop or close your account at any time from your Parent Dashboard settings. Your child's data is retained for 30 days after you close the account in case you wish to reactivate. After 30 days, all data is permanently deleted. You can also delete everything with one tap, or request immediate deletion by emailing support@kyloen.com.

Question 26

Can schools use Kyloen?

Accepted Answer

Yes. While Kyloen is in beta, we're offering a free pilot to interested schools instead of school pricing. Pilots include the School DPA, the Educator Dashboard and a bulk parent consent flow. Email schools@kyloen.com or visit the For Schools page to express interest.
