Plain, simple English. No jargon. For every Indian parent.
First — what exactly is AI?
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. In simple terms, it is a computer programme that has been trained on a very large amount of text — books, articles, conversations — so that it can read what you write and reply in a way that sounds natural and helpful. Think of it like a very well-read friend who can discuss almost any topic. It does not have feelings, but it is very good at understanding what you mean and giving useful, thoughtful responses.
Who makes the AI that powers Kylo?
Kylo is powered by enterprise-grade AI made by our AI technology partner (USA-based), a leading AI safety company based in San Francisco, USA.
Our AI technology partner's specific focus is building AI that is safe, helpful, and honest — which is exactly why Kyloen chose them as our AI partner. Their AI is widely regarded as one of the safest available for sensitive use cases like children's products.
When your child types a message to Kylo, that message is sent to our AI partner's servers in the USA, their AI generates a response, and that response comes back as Kylo's reply.
Read our Privacy Policy →How does Kylo remember your child?
This is one of the most important questions parents ask. Here is exactly how it works:
Every time your child opens Kyloen, we create a Profile Card — a short summary of who your child is (name, age, interests we've noticed, mood patterns, recent topics).
This Profile Card is sent to our AI engine before each conversation, along with your child's recent messages. The AI reads this and responds as if it genuinely knows your child.
The Profile Card is stored securely in Kyloen's database (not on our AI partner's servers). Our AI partner only sees the current conversation and the profile context we send — nothing more.
This is why Kylo can say “How did your maths test go last week, Aarav?” — because we included it in the profile context sent to the AI.
What does our AI partner NOT do with your child's data?
- Does not store conversations permanently — Our AI partner receives each message to process a response and does not retain it on their servers after the response is generated.
- Does not use your child's data to train AI models — Our AI partner does not use API conversations for model training. Kyloen has not opted into any training data sharing. Your child's conversations will never be used to improve AI models for other users.
- Does not share it with anyone — Our AI partner processes your child's messages only to generate Kylo's response. Nothing else.
- Does not profile your child for advertising — Our AI partner is not an advertising company. There are no ads involved in this process.
What does Kyloen do with your child's data?
Kyloen stores your child's data in Supabase — a professional-grade database service based on PostgreSQL. Here is what we store and why:
- Conversation messages — to build the context profile that makes Kylo feel like a real companion
- Mood signals — to send you weekly parent insights
- Interest and career signals — to personalise Kylo's conversations over time
- Safety flags — to alert you if Kylo detects a potential concern
All of this data is used only to make Kyloen better for your child. Nothing else. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How does crisis detection work?
When your child talks to Kylo, the AI scans for specific safety signals — words or patterns that suggest the child may be in distress or danger. This happens automatically as part of every response.
If a safety signal is detected, Kyloen's system flags it, categorises it by severity, and either adds it to your weekly report (mild concern) or sends you an immediate alert (serious concern).
Serious alerts involve a review by Kyloen's safety team — a human being who checks whether the alert is genuine. This human review step means we do not bombard parents with false alarms.
See our Child Safety page for the full 3-tier system.
Is AI 100% accurate?
No AI is 100% accurate — and we will always be honest about this. Kylo's AI is very good at understanding children's questions, but it can occasionally misunderstand something, give an outdated answer, or make a mistake. This is why we always recommend: if your child asks about something important (health, safety, a major life decision), double-check with a qualified professional. Kylo is a companion and a learning tool, not a doctor, therapist, or teacher.
Our privacy promise
Kyloen takes your child's privacy more seriously than any other children's product in India. We have made deliberate choices — no advertising, minimal data collection, cross-border transfer disclosure, human review for safety alerts — because we believe Indian children deserve digital products built with genuine care. If you ever have a question about how the AI works or how your data is used, email privacy@kyloen.com and we will answer it personally.
